Filling out paperwork for our insurance company in order to get formula coverage. In the past, we have been rejected for coverage for Lucy's formula MANY times. Despite the fact it is a prescription, is life sustaining, and a medical necessity our insurance doesn't feel they have to pay. As a result, Zach and I have had to fork out something to the tune of near $20,000 in formula for the last 2 years which is nothing short of a financial catastrophe waiting to happen(especially once you include all of our medical bills for hospitalizations, prescriptions, and doctor visits).
We hope and pray....and PRAY that our insurance will approve us this time around. As of the 1st of this month the state now mandates that insurance companies cover the cost of elemental formulas. Insurance companies are sneaky SOB's though, and can easily find the loopholes in the law I am sure. None the less, I will fill my heart with optimism and hit the "send" button on our fax machine.
We NEED this coverage and if we are rejected again it will have life changing ramifications for our family. So please, hope along with us that our insurance company will do the right thing and cover our formula. :)
