Government says NO on buying used children's items!

Yikes! A quick post here that is totally unrelated to the family:

The CPSIA was just passed making it effective Feb 10th that the reselling of used children's items by ANYONE is illegal unless it has been proven to have been tested for pthalates and lead. That means you cannot buy or sell your used or homemade children's goods at yard sales, consignment stores, craigslist, goodwill, or anywhere else for that matter- including your own private small business on websites like ebay or etsy. I totally understand that a serious stand needed to be made in order to protect our children from lead and other toxins, but come on. Did anyone stop to realize the DEVASTATING effects such a bill would have on so many families??? I am really hoping that this bill can be reverse and revised before it takes effect, or that somehow its been misconstrued, but it seems that as of now on Feb 10th a lot of business owners will be out and many families will face financial crisis trying to provide only brand new items for their children. Sheesh! Feb 10th is now being referred to as National Bankruptcy Day because of the impact this bill is expected to have on so many small businesses and families. http://nationalbankruptcyday.com/
