I just got off the phone with our allergist, Dr S, and we've decided that cantaloupe is a no go. He seemed disappointed. Disappointed doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about it.
Our first day was great, Lucy was so pleased to eat a food. We started off with just a small bit, but by the next day Lucy was laying on the couch under her Tinkerbell blanket saying her belly hurt. After that she had a lot of trouble swallowing it. She would hold the cantaloupe in her mouth and chew for an hour before spitting it into the trash. By the third day the diapers started and by yesterday Lucy was flat our refusing to even touch the cantaloupe. Her already low formula intake dropped even lower- from 24 ounces a day(when she SHOULD take around 30) to around 14 ounces a day.
The good news here is that Lucy has no interest in the cantaloupe at this point so there wont be any tears about losing it.
